Full Biography

Rachel Lascar is a French actress best known for playing Marie Lavelle in the Netflix series Berlin-Money Heist (2023) and Mary Tudor in the HBO / Max period series The Ministry of Time (2020). She was born Rachel Jacqueline Lascar in Saint-Brieuc, Brittany, France. Her family is of Breton, Italian and North African descent. She grew up in Laval, in the Pays de la Loire region of France. She studied art history at the Université de Villejean in Rennes, where she also took evening drama classes at the Conservatoire de Théâtre. She then moved to Paris to study at the Institut of Theatrical Studies la Sorbonne, under Georges Manu and Lucien Attoun, and at the Jean Perimony drama school. During this period, she collaborated with a group of performers led by artist Miette, for Galerie La Clédalique in Cadaquès, creating dance performances, installations and filming. While in Paris, she also worked as first assistant director and production assistant for various advertising agencies (including BDDP@TBWA). Rachel writes and directs for both theatre and film, and is working on her second short film. She made her film debut in Contre-Bandiers, an independent film directed by Danos and produced by the Agnès B Foundation in Paris. In 2001, Rachel moved to Spain. She has since played a wide range of characters in films and series such as Elite, The Gunman, Mrs Davis and the Through my Window trilogy. There, she studied the Meisner technique with Javier Galitó Cava and Rachael Adler, and continued to work in theatre. Over the course of her career, she has worked with directors such as Owen Harris, Roxann Dawson, Isabel Coixet, Pierre Morel, Jesús Colmenar, Albert Pintó, Jose Mari Goenaga, Jon Garaño, Aitor Arregi and Ventura Pons, and with actors such as Sean Penn, Daniel Brühl, Armand Assante, Adrian Pang, Anouk Grinberg, Elena Anaya, Najwa Nimri, Pedro Alonso, Itziar Ituño, Mario Casas, Cayetana Guillén Cuervo and Julio Peña.
