Marcie Barkin, known professionally as Melody Mason, was born in Kentucky and dreamed of becoming a singer inspired by country idol Jeb Hubbard. She defied her family to pursue this dream, facing various challenges along the way including sexual encounters, working as a masseuse, and serving time in juvenile detention under a dominant female warden. Despite these obstacles, she rose up the music charts after being christened with her new stage name.
