Story
In 'La tristesse riche,' we follow the life of a young woman of nobility in the 19th century. Her day begins with three servants attending to her, dressing and preparing her for the day. Throughout the day, she becomes increasingly paranoid and feels as though she's being watched or spied on by unseen people around her. However, it remains unclear whether these figures are real or merely figments of her imagination.
Summary
Directed by Emmanuel Gras in 2010, 'La tristesse riche' is a stylized ode to Italian filmmaker Luchino Visconti. The film explores themes of nobility, surveillance, and paranoia through the lens of a young woman's experiences in 19th-century France.
