In a small town in the Po valley, Mara, an attractive young teacher from Tuscany, arrives and stirs up the community's quiet life. When Mara announces her plans to move to Brazil, the dynamics of their relationship change significantly. Summary
La giusta distanza (2007) is an Italian drama directed by Carlo Mazzacurati. Set in a small, close-knit community in the Po valley, the film explores themes of racism, cultural integration, and the disruptive force of change as embodied by Mara, the new teacher from Tuscany. The story unfolds through the eyes of Giovanni, a young aspiring journalist who documents the events that transpire around him. The film's climax involves a murder, suggesting that the tensions and misunderstandings born out of Mara's arrival have reached a boiling point.
