Story
Autoportretul unei fete cuminti (The Portrait of a Mindful Girl) follows Cristiana, a 30-year-old woman leading a seemingly conventional life in Bucharest. She divides her time between working on her PhD in Earthquake Engineering, conversing with her close friends Alex and Michelle, and engaging in sporadic romantic encounters with Dan, a married man. When her parents move out of their family apartment into a new house, Cristiana decides to fulfill a childhood dream by getting a dog.
Summary
This Romanian drama film directed by Ana Lungu presents a glimpse into the life of an educated, middle-class woman navigating contemporary Bucharest society. While the plot is centered around Cristiana's decision to get a dog after her parents move out, it also explores themes of independence, relationships, and personal growth. The movie offers a realistic portrayal of modern Romanian youth dealing with the expectations of their bourgeois backgrounds while trying to forge their own paths.
